Celebrity Cruises is one of the cruise lines offering UK sailings this summer, and now the company has shared details of what passengers can expect on board.
The line’s glamorous Celebrity Silhouette ship will be sailing from July 3 from Southampton, offering some tempting itineraries around the British Isles.
While passengers have already been sharing what it’s like on a UK cruise, Celebrity has offered a look at how things like embarkation will work, as well as rules onboard around face masks and social distancing.
We take a look at some of the biggest things worth having on your radar if you’re thinking of going on a UK cruise this summer…
Celebrity requires all crew and passengers aged 18 or over to be fully vaccinated.
Guests will also be required to show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 24-72 hours of sailing, while children aged 3-17 will need to take an antigen test at the terminal, prior to embarkation. The company has said it will pay for the PCR and antigen tests.
All arrivals and departures will be staggered by appointment, with passengers able to select their preferred check-in times.
Face mask rules
Anyone aged 11 or over will be required to wear an “appropriate face covering” in the cruise Terminal, as well as inside the venues onboard the ships. However, passengers won’t need to wear face masks on the outer decks, whilst they are eating, or if they are inside their staterooms.
What to expect on board
Celebrity Cruises’ app will play a key role in minimising contact. It will allow passengers to complete the safety drill from their cabin, check-in and get a mobile boarding pass, access a digital key to their stateroom, and book the likes of dining venues and shore excursions.
All of the ship’s usual facilities will be open for passengers including the various restaurants and bars, the spa, theatre, shops and the swimming pools.
Celebrity says it anticipates that guests will be able to debark the ship and explore the ports of call, provided there are no restrictions put in place by port authorities or local government.
Bookings and refunds
Celebrity has a ‘Peace of Mind’ policy in place.
If passengers or anyone in their travelling group tests positive for Covid either prior or during holiday, they can receive a full refund.
This applies to anyone who tests positive within two weeks of their sail date – including at the pier – as well as members of their immediate travelling party who have been in close contact with them.
Alongside this, anyone who books by July 31, 2021, can cancel for any reason up to 48 hours for departures up to May 4, 2022, and receive a 100% Future Cruise Credit.
