Gerrard Set To Manage At Anfield For First Time In pre-Season Friendly With Rangers – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

Steven Gerrard is set to manage at Anfield this summer as Rangers head to Liverpool for a pre-season friendly.

The Reds legend began his coaching career on Merseyside having taken charge of the club’s youth side.

His exploits saw him take over at Rangers in 2018 and he has just led the Glasgow-outfit to the Scottish title.

Their first league success in 10 years was achieved after amassing 102 points and conceding just 13 goals in 38 games.

Gerrard’s Rangers are poised to test themselves against Liverpool with a game penciled in for late July as the Reds’ pre-season set to be affected by the pandemic.

A training camp in France or Austria is planned, depending on respective government restrictions nearer the time.

The game at Anfield could also be the stadium’s first at full capacity in over a year should government restrictions allow.

Gerrard himself is touted as a future Liverpool manager such is his iconic status on the red half of Merseyside.

The 41-year-old though insists the Kop will be more than happy with Jurgen Klopp in the dugout.

“The Liverpool fans don’t want me to be the manager of Liverpool Football Club,” he said.
