Albany product Dylan Smallwood helped Claremont’s league side remain undefeated in the 2021 WAFL season after he played a starring role in defence on Saturday.
After round four was cancelled due to the lockdown in the Perth and Peel region, the Tigers came out firing in their round-five contest against West Perth to win by 52 points at Revo Fitness Stadium.
Smallwood was superb playing against West Perth star Tyler Keitel, who he kept to just one behind from 10 touches.
The key defender collected 12 possessions himself and took three marks to be named in the Tigers’ best players.
Borden’s Anthony Davis finished with 16 touches and took four marks in the Tigers 16.11 (107) to 8.7 (55) victory.
Ex-North Albany midfielder Declan Mountford gathered 18 possessions, eight marks, seven tackles and three inside-50s to lead from the front again, while Royals and Jerramungup product Tom Baldwin had 12 touches and six marks.
Royals junior Tom Edwards kicked 1.1 from 10 disposals, two marks, two tackles and three inside-50s for Swan Districts’ league side as they defeated East Perth by 13 points.
Edwards has kicked nine goals in the first four games of the new season.
Fellow Royals product Steven Edwards picked up 14 disposals and four marks in South Fremantle’s 18-point win over Subiaco after starring in his return to the league side last round.
Morgan Davies, who hails from Royals, made an impressive return to East Fremantle’s league team to be in their best few players as they went down to Perth by 30 points.
Davies was outstanding in two reserves matches this season before earning a recall and gathered 21 touches, five marks, four inside-50s and kicked a goal.
North Albany young gun Talon Delacey continues to impress in the Tigers colts side to be again a strong contributors despite going down to the Falcons by 23 points.
The dynamic midfielder was named captain for the Tigers colts side in round five as well.
Delacey racked up 27 possessions, five marks, five tackles and five inside-50s in the loss.
