he Formula One season continues this afternoon with the third race of the campaign as the circuit stops off in Portugal.

The race returned to the calendar last year for the first time since 1996, with Lewis Hamilton taking victory on the way to his seventh world title.

Mercedes were setting the early pace in practice on Friday – with Valtteri Bottas quickest in the morning before Hamilton led the way in the afternoon – and continued that on Saturday, with the Finn taking pole by just seven thousandths of a second from his teammate.

Max Verstappen is Hamilton’s closest rival in the Formula One championship after two races, with the pair boasting one win and one runner-up spot a piece.
