Some of the biggest filmmakers are scared to release their movies in theatres due to the pandemic scare but down South it’s a celebration of sorts at the box-office. The highly anticipated film Master releases on Pongal in theatres and the audiences are overwhelmed by the film and showing some great response.
Master starring not one but two South biggies – Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi has opened in theatres on Pongal. While the trade pundits were not sure what the opening response would be due to the pandemic, the superstars have pulled the crowd to the cinema halls and opened the movie fantabulously. According to reports the superstars’ cut-outs are being placed outside cinema halls and the release is celebrated amidst much fanfare. People are flocking to the theatres and the morning shows have opened to almost packed houses. Now that’s a great response for a film to witness amidst the COVID-19 scare and just shows that when entertainment is served right, people are ready to accept the new-normal in their movie-watching ritual in theatres.
Let’s hope that this development encourages some more makers in several other industries to have their projects a theatrical release and bring some breather to the movie business. In Hindi industry films like Sooryavanshi and ’83 are waiting to have a release once they garner audiences’ reaction to watching movies in cinema halls.
